Roger Sambrook

Wardened Sat 8th August from 9.30 to 12.30. Very busy morning again with nearly 70 visitors the majority (43) being leisure walkers, the remainder being dog walkers, twitchers & joggers plus met the 3 ringers again this week walking along the east/west path. Walked all paths all ok but I cut back many brambles as I walked along, they are growing very quickly now. Sad to say dog poo is becoming a problem again, well over half a dozen piles most of it between the road bridge & carpark bridge.Perhaps a few polite reminder posters may help. Also came across a lady with a little dog on a lead walking down the permissive path, she said she was new to the area and did not realise dogs were not permiited on this path she turned and went back and then read the signs at the entrance to the PP on her way out.The cows now in Ashley Meadow all looked ok they were quite close to the gate, three standing and one laying down. Not much to be seen from the screens today but the visibility is geting blocked by reeds particularly the r/h screen. on my way back looking to my right along the canal perched in the dead trees on the reserve were a juviile Buzzard, a G Grey Heron, 4 Cormorants and 3 Great White Egrets. Walking down the Permissive path I saw my first Painted Lady of 2020,also plenty of drago nffnlies

The canal side path is becoming seriously eroded about half way between the two concrete bridges. I expect this is known as it is so obviou...
